A good match is like uniting the fine grapes of two vines, and this is accepted by society with a warm greeting. Clusters of grapes illuminate the ketubah, with their leaves and trellises, symbolizing growth and fruitfulness, riches and flavor, joy and faith. The wheat evokes the traditional saying, “Where there’s no bread there’s no Torah”. May your house always be abundant with bread and Torah!
The outer border of three strands braided together, stands for the Ecclesiastes verse (4:9-12), “Two are better off than one… for should they fall one can raise the other…further, when two lie together they are warm… A threefold cord is not readily broken.” In a blessed marriage, Shechinah is the third string.
